MUST HAVES:

High School diploma, Associate’s Degree preferred

Registered Pharmacy Technician is required, Pharmacy Technician Certification is preferred

1+ year experience as a Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy insurance verification and Pre Authorizations experience as well as knowledge of health plans in the area

• Ability to interact with a variety of external customers, including patients, patients families, referring physicians or their clinical/office staff and insurance companies

• Superior Customer Service skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

• Strong interpersonal, communication, time management and organizational skill and be able to remain professional and courteous when dealing with sensitive issues and stressful situations

• Self-motivated, reliable and ability to function independently with in a team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, customers/patients and management

 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

• Act as a liaison between company, patients, insurance, Pharma, and provider’s office via phone, fax

• Review and verify patients’ insurance information

• Obtain missing insurance information, diagnosis code and other applicable information by contacting the physician or patient in order to compete the benefits investigation and/or authorization

• Obtain pharmacy and/or medical benefits via phone, insurance website, or via fax for new and/or existing patients prior to any services rendered

• Research published insurance coverage criteria and locate authorization forms via payer websites/portals and other applicable avenues

• Request all prior authorizations and/or pre-determination as required by the insurance company

• Perform follow up on all claims submission to ensure receipt of claims

• Monitor insurance payers for changes in required authorizations and make recommendations to modify internal procedures

• Perform monthly verifications for Medicaid, Medicaid HMO and commercial insurances

• Perform tasks requires to ensure the timely and accurate submission of insurance claims to all third party payers and document billing activity

• Process prescriptions through the pharmacy dispensing software as required

• Insure adherence to all DEA, federal, state and company policies and procedures

• Remain current knowledge of clinical background and insurance requirements for new and emerging therapies

• Effectively manage and prioritize time to complete administrative activities daily

• Maintain documentations of calls with to and from patients, caregivers, insurance and providers

• Be a motivational team player

• Other duties as required
